DEVOTIONALS

Why devotionals?

Ethos Church is not just a place where we gather on Sundays. We desire to be a community of people who are devoted to learning and growing through studying the scripture and dedicated prayer time throughout our weeks. One thing we know is that God desires a relationship with us and we hope that these resources will be the added help you are looking for when striving to deepen that relationship with God.

God isn’t interested in us practicing religion; instead, He desires a relationship with us.

Holy Week

This 8 day devotional has been curated to help guide you through Holy Week,

starting on Palm Sunday and ending on Easter. Each entry is designed to take

15 – 45 minutes, depending on how much time you have to spend. Each day,

you will find the same components: an icon, a text from the Gospels, a Psalm, a

devotional, a short prayer, and a few reflection questions.

The Book of Galatians

Grace is the unmerited, undeserved, and unearned favor and kindness of God. God gave humanity grace by giving His Son, Jesus, who was a once-and-for-all sacrifice for the sins of humanity. This is favor to undeserving people. This is grace. Yet, the church of Galatia was departing from the grace of God and instead reverting back to a law that would keep them in bondage. Let's learn together...

Philippians

This devotional is designed as a companion to help you walk through the four chapters of Philippians. We hope you’ll utilize this guide as a 4-week study alongside our unified scripture reading plan: read the same chapter all the way through Monday-Friday (i.e. Read Philippians Chapter 1, each day, for the first week. Then move to Chapter 2 for the second week, etc…). Although you will be reading the entire chapter, daily questions and reflections will be centered on those verses you see in bold within this guide.

Promises Devotional

Our prayer for you through this devotional is that you begin to recall again all that God has promised you and that you are able to walk in what He has promised. And even more so where you feel broken, we pray you find restoration in remembering His promises.

Advent 2023

Allow this season to be a journey of anticipation. One of waiting and expecting Gods goodness. One where we discover the ways that our story intersects with the story that God has always told and continues to tell. The story of Jesus’ great love for all the world.

Beyond Blessed Devotional

The blessed life isn't about a blessed wallet. It is far better than that. It is learning to recognize everything we have has been given to us by God. In this devotional we will learn to become better stewards of our relationships, resources, and God's presence which consequently will lead to greater joy and peace. Stewardship: “The careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.”

Colossians.png

The Book of Colossians

Paul writes to the Colossian Christians expanding and explaining the simple fact that no part of their human existence remains untouched by the loving and liberating rule of Jesus. In light of this, Paul goes on to say that every Christian’s suffering, temptation, moral character, and family dynamics must all be re-examined and transformed in light of the work of Jesus. According to Paul, becoming a follower of Jesus, means that you’re joined to Jesus for eternity and are part of his new multi-ethnic family, united under His authority and truth.

Axioms For Life Devotional

The Book of James was written to a church that was scattered and couldn’t meet all together due to circumstances beyond their control. We’re still experiencing a similar separation as a church today. In difficult times like these, trials and temptations are inevitable, but God will empower us to persevere as we live out our faith and grow spiritually mature.

Advent Devotional

The word advent actually comes from the Latin adventus, which simply means “arrival.” Advent is the coming, the arrival, of the presence of God Himself— God with us. For hundreds of years, followers of Jesus from a wide variety of church traditions around the world have set aside the four weeks leading up to Christmas as a meaningful season of celebration and anticipation. That’s what we’re up to here.
